The following information is from the General Policies of our Church:
Preamble
We, a family of baptized believers, acknowledging no head but Jesus Christ, and no religious authority but the Word of God, the Bible, adopt these policies for the purpose of preserving and making secure the principals of our faith, preserving the liberties inherent in each individual member, preserving the freedom of action of our body with respect to our relation to other organized bodies of faith, and to the end that we may conduct ourselves in an orderly manner.
General Policies
We shall be known as Bogue Banks Baptist Church and shall be hereinafter referred to as “the church.”
Purpose
Our purpose shall be to do the work commanded by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Every individual, organization, and group within the church shall seek to promote the spiritual life and growth of our members and to exemplify the spirit of Christ and His teachings that the unsaved may be won to Christ and His gospel preached everywhere. Anything contrary to this spirit and purpose shall be eliminated from the work of the church.
Another purpose of this church shall be to address the unredeemed structures of society, combating sin, evil, and injustice in all its forms, attempting to bring all of life under Christ’s Lordship. To carry out this purpose, the church shall address these matters in word and deed, as the occasion may arise, calling and causing the church to act.
Church Covenant
Having been called by God through His Son, Jesus Christ, we enter into a covenant relationship with him for the living out of His purposes for our lives. In the presence of God and under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, we also, enter into a joyous covenant with the members of this church, known as Bogue Banks Baptist Church.
We commit ourselves to Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. We pledge to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and bring all areas of our lives
under His Lordship.
We pledge ourselves to be growing Christians, seeking to grow in the grace and the knowledge of our Lord. We commit ourselves to the personal and corporate disciplines of prayer, Bible study, and other disciplines that cause us to mature as Christians.
We promise to help one another grow in Christ. We will help one another seek, develop, and use our individual, God-given gifts, so as to build up the body of Christ, the church, and so that we might become active and useful fellow ministers and servants of the gospel and the church.
We covenant together to be faithful witnesses to the good news of Jesus Christ. We will so order our lives so as to be positive witnesses to God’s love through Jesus Christ, both in word and deed, to one another and the world.
We commit ourselves to the regular and faithful worship of God, to the observance of the ordinances, and to the doctrines, disciplines, and ministries of the church.
We acknowledge God as the owner of all things, and so covenant to give of our time, energy, gifts, and material possessions to spread the gospel through this church. In order to support the ministries of the church and to spread the gospel to all people, we pledge to contribute cheerfully, regularly, and proportionately of our material possessions, beginning with a tithe if possible.
We covenant to live as Christians in our homes and pledge to engage in family and individual devotions. We will teach our children by instruction and example that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior, and that when we are in a proper relationship with Him, we find life’s highest purpose.
We covenant to uphold one another in Christian love. In compassion, affection, and concern, we will be slow to judge and quick to forgive and seek reconciliation. We will minister to one another, pray for one another, be mindful and considerate of one another, and share with one another our joys and sorrows.
We covenant to live as Christians in the world, to be Christ-like in our conduct and just in our dealings. We will not knowingly engage in any conduct which may cause another to stumble.
We covenant to include all people everywhere within the circle of our love and concern. While holding to our Baptist heritage, we shall seek with all Christians, a unity of spirit and action.
We further agree that when we can no longer maintain the spirit of this covenant, or when we move from this area, we will, as soon as possible, unite with another church which is living under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the principals of God’s Word, the Bible.
